In February and March, children continued our learning around our topic ‘The sky’s the limit if you work hard’. Children explored different art techniques and we were lucky enough to have an Art workshop run by some local artists come in to work with the children to explore the media of clay and make our own clay animals. Children have begun looking at the life cycles of animals such as ducks, butterflies and frogs. In PE the children made up sequences of movements to demonstrate the life cycles.
In Literacy, children have been learning to sequence and we made recipes for making our Easter nests. Children have been using their imagination and phonics knowledge to write their own short stories at the independent writing table.
In Maths, children explored ways of halving and sharing using a range of resources to embed the strategies learnt. They also revisited names and properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
Children have continued to use the effort scale to refer to the effort they put into their learning, sharing their successes with others. They have drafted and redrafted their learning to make it better.
As we are approaching the Easter break we have been talking about what we celebrate with our families, looking at the Easter story and making Easter and Spring crafts.

Home Learning – Literacy

Look at non-fiction books linked to animals, plants and growing. Discuss the contents page and how you can find information in non-fiction books.

Over Easter we would love you to use Tapestry to send in memories of your child over the holiday.

What activities and events did you take part in during the Easter Holidays? Please upload some evidence of home learning on Tapestry. This can include tickets, leaflets, photos etc and the child’s dialogue about what they have been up to.

Encourage children to write short stories remembering capital letters, finger spaces and a full stop!
