December has been super busy for Year 4!
In Maths, we have been learning about multiplication, and how to use grid multiplication, short multiplication (a class favourite) and factors to help us solve calculations. We then used our knowledge and skills to tackle word problems and explain our reasoning. Our RUCSAC posters were very helpful to remind us what to do!
In Literacy, we are exploring persuasive writing through the books of Drew Daywalt: "The Day the Crayons Quit" and "The Day The Crayons Came Home". Not only are we learning, but we are really enjoying these books and we are immersing ourselves in persuasive language and techniques - perhaps one day we will put them to good use!
In Computing, we have been looking at Internet safety through the adventures of Kara, Winston and the SMART Crew. We enjoyed the story and we learned what to do to stay safe when we use the internet. Speaking of using the internet, we used the Welcome To The Web website to acquaint ourselves with some internet basics. We had to look at information, check weblinks, unscramble puzzles, use search engines and gathered clues that helped us solve a crime! We have also been using Google Classroom for small assignments and to keep track of our secret codes and clues for crime solving. We are really enjoying it!
Parents' Consultation Day was a great opportunity to meet with all the parents and celebrate our learning! The children were so proud to share their work and achievements.
Christmas performance preparations have reached fever pitch! We are practicing our lines, songs and dance moves every day, and we’re excited to present our show to all the parents!
