Welcome to our Governing Body. Lime Tree Primary School is part of the Surbiton Education Health Trust.

The core purpose of the Governing Body is to ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction: hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; oversee the financial performance of the school making sure its money is well spent.

The Governing Body is also accountable to parents and the wider community for the performance of the school and for raising its standards.

The school can have 11 governors: 

2 Parent, 1 Local Authority, 1 Staff, 1 Headteacher, 6 Foundation.

The Full Governing Body meets three times a year, and there are three sub-committees which also meet three times a year and report in to the main meetings:

Julie Kim Sherlock

My background: My professional background is in Facilities & Estates Management, which for many years has been within a variety of different settings for the NHS. For the last 10 years I have been a Director of Your Healthcare; a local Community Interest Company providing community Health services in the borough of Kingston & Richmond.

My interests: Being a school Governor. I have been a school Governor for many years, initially as a Parent Governor when my boys were in education and then at Lime Tree Primary as a Foundation Governor when the school was opened in September 2012. I was appointed Vice Chair of Governors in 2012 and then Chair of Governors in 2016. I enjoy walking my dog, travelling, theatre, music & spending time with friends (when time allows!!).

How I am supporting the school: As chair of Governors I work with our Governing Body to support the school in developing its strategic direction; ensuring that the vision clearly defines the values & ethos of Lime Tree. My passion is to ensure we achieve the best possible outcomes for all of our children. I currently sit on all three committees: Finance & Resources, Behaviour Safeguarding & Safety committee and the Achievement committee. I am Link Governor for English, DT, Pupil Premium Grant (PPG), Health & Safety and Safeguarding.

My Background: Before retiring in 2014 I worked for the NHS for almost 40 years in the Kingston and Surbiton area. Having trained as a nurse and health visitor, when I retired I was the Director of Clinical Services for a local Social Enterprise providing a range of community health care services. My role as a nurse and later as a Director enabled me to develop a range of relevant skills and knowledge which I have been able to bring to my role as governor. I have a keen interest in Lime Tree as I was a member of the collaborative partnership which successfully bid to be the provider of the school back in 2010.

My Interests: I have two daughters and five young grandchildren and feel passionately that all children should benefit from an excellent start to their education. In my role as a governor at Lime Tree I am therefore committed to playing my part in supporting the school to ensure that all children benefit from the highest possible quality of education and reach their educational and personal potential. Aside from being a governor, I enjoy having fun with my grandchildren, travel, walking, and singing in a local choir.

How I am supporting the school: I have been a Governor at Lime Tree since February 2019. I am currently the Vice Chair of Governors, Chair of the Finance and Resources committee, a member of the Quality of Education Committee and the link Governor for maths.

My background: I have been working in the NHS for over 12 years and am currently a Director of Operations for a London Hospital. My work has required me to oversee the operational delivery of clinical departments, including supporting clinical teams with their strategic planning, introducing new services, meeting quality and safety standards for patients and financial management. Outside of my career, I have been actively involved in a number of charities focused on developing and providing opportunities for people with disabilities.

My interests: I am passionate about supporting people to do the best they can and living healthy lives in a healthy world. I am therefore very passionate about the ethos and mission of Lime Tree and am keen to support the school to deliver this. Alongside my work and being a governor, I enjoy being active outside, swimming, sailing, walking, cycling and some yoga to relax.

How I am supporting the school: I am the lead governor for Early Years and Physical Education.

Asitha Udaya Panditharatna

My background: My professional background is in leading and managing successful apprenticeships, skills and employability programmes with employers, providers and learners. I have been a board member and trustee of other organisations including the housing association, citizens advice, a refugee support organisation and a consultancy business. I am currently also a member of the Mayor of London's Skills for Londoners Task Force. I chair on behalf of the Mayor the Digital Entitlement Task and Finish Group as part of the Task Force. I am also a keen supporter of NGOs in Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh. I have lived in Kingston and Surbiton for nearly ten years.

My interests: My interests are in helping the school to develop and improve the quality of its provision and also bringing new ideas and innovations from other areas of education and industries to help the management and staff with the school development.

How I am supporting the school: I am currently the Special Education Needs liaison Governor and attend the Achievement Sub-Group and full board meetings.

My background: I currently work as Head of UKI Sales for a well know European Airline and feels that my experience of HR, Budgeting and wider commercial knowledge can assist with being a governor of Lime Tree for relevant decision making.

My interests: My son has recently started at a primary school in Kingston and so I have a vested interest in understanding education and how appropriate governor action and input can assist children’s educational development.
I live in Kingston with his wife and one son.

Suzanne Patricia Cardillo-Zallo

My background:

For my day job I am a senior nurse working for the local community health organisation Your Healthcare, advising and supporting all the staff with child protection work. I am also involved in training staff and ensuring that Your Healthcare provides high quality and safe services for children and young people in Kingston. I am a member of the Kingston and Richmond Safeguarding Children Partnership and work very closely with colleagues from all organisations who work with children.

My interests:

I have 3 children of my own who have now finished education, my youngest daughter and middle son are both at university and my oldest son who has learning disability and autism lives close to us in supported living. My interests outside of work are running, yoga and walking my dog on very long hikes. Myself and my oldest son trained together and ran the 2020 virtual London Marathon last year for the charity Mencap which made me immensely proud of him. It was his first marathon. I’m also very involved with the local group of Special Olympics an organisation which supports children and adults with learning disabilities to access regular sports training and take part in competitions.


Anita Schaper

Achieving for Children, working on behalf of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Local Authority, nominated Anita Schaper as LA governor for a four year term of office, ending on 10th February 2025. This nomination is based on the recommendation of the board at Lime Tree Primary School. The board formally appointed Anita Schaper to the position of LA governor.

 My background and interests:

People and mental health are topics I care very much about. That's why I have studied and worked in the fields of health and occupational psychology for over 30 years. Throughout my career, I have led on various projects involving strategic planning and marketing. I have particularly enjoyed developing educational programmes and workshops, and working with various stakeholders to bring a project or plan together. As a local councillor representing Berrylands ward, I would like to bring all my skills, knowledge and experience together in the role of Governor at Lime Tree School. I am very much looking forward to the opportunities and challenges, and to work with everyone involved with the school.

Anne-Marie McIntyre

My background: 

I have worked in education for 14 years, mostly in early years and primary school settings; before that I worked in health and social care. I have supported children as a TA and ELSA (emotional literacy support assistant) and parents as a home school link/outreach worker, as well as more recently working in the school office (I am currently Receptionist at Lime Tree). I am passionate about working to support children and families to develop a lifelong love of learning. I am also the trustee of a local LGBT+ charity and lead one of our peer support projects.

My Interests:

I am interested in inclusion, diversity, mental health and wellbeing. I have two children, one approaching the end of her secondary school journey and the other in University. Spending time with them is my favourite thing to do. I’m interested in the local area and supporting the development of local community. I’m also a potter.


Samuel Nguyen Hanes

My background:

I am a trained economist with 13 years' experience in public policy. management consulting and business administration. I am currently the Chief Operating Officer of the innovation charity, Nesta. In a previous role, I led a number of projects in schools looking for low cost, evidence-based solutions to increase parental support, attendance and pupil attainment. In my last few roles I have attended and reported to a commercial board of directors and a charitable board of trustees.

My interests:

I grew up in a tough neighbourhood in Brixton and my first primary school was shut down by the local authority while I was in year 2. Years later, I was lucky enough to be awarded an assisted place to attend an independent secondary school. Of course, not every school can have the luxury of financial resources. Now that I have children of my own, I am passionate about making sure that they and their peers have an opportunity to be the best they can, regardless of personal circumstances.
